On 6th May 2018, she made her One Day International (WODI) debut for Bangladesh against South Africa. Two weeks later, she made her WT20I debut also against South Africa.
In June 2018, she was part of the squad that created history by defeating reigning champions India and winning Bangladesh's first-ever Women's Asia Cup title.
Sumona's career has taken her to Australia, where she continues to achieve success.
She was awarded the title Bankstown 1st Grade Player of the Year for her achievements during the 2020/21 season.
In 2023, she debuted for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) in Australia's Women's National Cricket League (WNCL), the world's premier 50-over domestic competition.
